 u guys are new to the area\, or for one reason or another haven't been up t
 o Mount Ranier yet.  It's an amazing feature of our landscape and mid to la
 te summer is a great time to visit!  The alpine meadows at the higher eleva
 tions are riots of color with blooming wildflowers in July and August\, so 
 I thought we could go take that in.  We'll start out carpooling from the We
 stside Tops\, leaving at 11am.  We'll enter the part at the Nisqually entra
 nce and head up past Longmire to the visitor center at Paradise.  Being the
  height of summer it will be busy\, so we'll take as few cars as we can.  I
 n the summer 4-wheel drive is not required but realize the road is steep in
  many places and has many hairpin turns\, so you need to know how to drive 
 in low gear on the way back down.    Once we're at Paradise we have many op
 tions.  The Visitor Center is very interesting and informative\, and comfor
 table if you'd like to just relax for a bit.  There are telescopes that you
  can use to view the glaciers even if you have no desire to hike up to see 
 them in person.  There are concessions and bathrooms there.  I also plan on
  doing a couple of short hikes that start from the visitor center:  The Nis
 qually Vista Loop is 1.4 miles with 200ft elevation gain and offers views o
 f the meadows with wildflowers and the Nisqually Glacier.  More info:  http

  one car so that we'll have some flexibility about return times.  I suggest
  we pack sack lunches and have a picnic when we get there (or buy lunch the
 re if you'd rather not pack one)\, and either stop for dinner on the way ba

  at six different stages\, plus comedy shows and some art exhibits.  Many\,
  many things to do\, and it's only $22 per day to get you in the door!  If

  with those two things. There are a bunch of bands playing during the day a
 t six different stages\, plus comedy shows and some art exhibits. Many\, ma
 ny things to do\, and it's only $22 per day to get you in the door! If you 
 want access to the main stage show that night\, it's $40\, but that's still

 Northwest is Portland's best music festival and for my money\, beats anythi
 ng in Seattle hands down.  This is it's tenth year and the lineups have nev
 er been better.  There is a veritable smorgasborg of shows to choose from\,
  and a wristband for the entire weekend is only $90.  I'm planning on being
  there Thursday night through Sunday night so I thought I'd post a meetup i
 n case anybody wanted to hook up for any of the shows.  I'm crashing with a
  friend so you'll have to provide your own transportation and housing\, but
  if you come down I promise you'll have an amazing time!  The festival is i
 ndie-heavy\, with a lot of local bands well represented\, but has offerings
